Sustainability: How Project Management Is Critical To Meeting The Challenge of Several Lifetimes

These days we’re all hearing a lot of talk about “green” business and “sustainability”.  A recent article in PM Network suggested that project managers with knowledge of sustainability are having little trouble finding jobs despite the economy.  Companies are realizing that environmentally friendly practices actually have a host of pleasant side effects, including fewer sick days, lower employee turnover, and even saving money.  Socially, economically, ethically- however you look at it, understanding sustainability is clearly becoming critical to business.

But how much do you really know about it?  What constitutes “sustainable” business practices and are they worth the investment?  How do you quantify “green”?  If you’re charged with leading a sustainability initiative, what is the best approach?

Greg Stine, President and CEO of SustainEdge, will introduce the concept of the Triple Bottom Line and why it is important to businesses today, discuss the process of moving a company toward sustainability, and describe how project management is critical to the transition.
